PLAYOFFS  (eff: 2017)
POSITIONING IS DETERMINED BY FINISHING POSITION DURING THE REGULAR SEASON AND IS BASED ON POINTS.  IN THE EVENT OF A TIE IN POINTS, THE TIE WILL BE BROKEN BY THE FOLLOWING:
1. HEAD TO HEAD PLAY BY THE TEAMS TIED IN POINTS
2. IF STILL A TIE,  THE TIE WILL BE BROKEN BY THE DIFFERENTIAL BETWEEN THE TWO TEAMS
3. IF STILL A TIE,  THE TIE WILL BE BROKEN BY THE DIFFERENTIAL OF ALL GAMES

1.  All house league and Canada Softball rules will apply except for any changes listed below. this includes pitching rules.
2. Home team score sheet is the official score sheet, but both scorekeepers MUST CONFER at the end of each inning, it is important that an accurate record be kept of all players left on base (see rule #4)
3. International tie breaker rule: in case of a tie, a runner (last completed batter) in the previous inning) will be placed on 2nd base and a complete open inning will be played. (in the case of a potential championship game, this will be the 2nd open inning).
4. If a tie still exists after International Tie Breaker inning, the tie will be broken by counting the number of runners left on 2nd base; and if a tie still exists, by counting the number of runners left on 1st base. In the event the tie remains unbroken, the game will be decided by a coin toss.
5. Home team right through to and including the championship game is the team which finished highest in the regular season.
6. Last inning of a potential championship game is an OPEN INNING.
7. All decisions made by the umpires are FINAL ... NO PROTESTS ALLOWED

THERE IS A ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY IN EFFECT FOR ANYONE DISRESPECTING EGMSA, BDMSA or WSSA EXECUTIVES, OFFICIALS and UMPIRES AT THE TOURNAMENT. ANYONE PARTICIPATING IN ANY ABUSIVE ACTIONS, VERBALLY OR OTHERWISE WILL BE IMMEDIATELY EJECTED FROM THE DIAMOND.

It's been a long time since I posted anything, it has been an incredibly busy, yet very productive season. The 2014 Season has been extremely successful with the highest number of registrations in at least 10 years.  The big increase has not come of course without its' challenges such as trying to find diamond time for so many teams this year.  We managed and it has been one of the quietest seasons so I am cautiously optimistic that since there aren't any complaints, everything is running smoothly and everyone is happy.

I can't believe we are already preparing for the end of season tournaments.  We will say so long to our Tball and Tyke/Atom divisions on Saturday, August 9th at the Mt. Albert Community Centre.  We will bid a fond farewell to our Mite divisions Saturday, August 9th at the Mt. Albert CD and Sunday, August 10th at the Sharon South diamonds.  The following week will be a busy one as we host playoffs for the Squirts with a closing tournament on Saturday, August 16th at the Sharon North diamond and we will complete the season the following weekend, August 23rd & 24th in Bradford with our Pee Wee and Bantam/Midget divisions.

Big thanks to all of our sponsors for this season:

PEE WEES won their 2nd playoff game Friday night against  Innisfil JBL Tilt team advancing them to a 1pm game against the Bradford Exchange Team.  Both EG ES Auto and Bradford Exchange were undefeated in the playoffs meaning this game would automatically advance one or the other to the Championship game in this double knock out tournament.  It was an exciting, sit on the edge of your seat kind of game with a 6 inning game ending with only a 7-6 run score for Bradford.   The loss put EG playing a 5pm game against the Bradford Fox Racing team.  Another great game with a couple of shut down innings and a final score of 14-8 for EG ES Auto advancing them to the championship game at 11am tomorrow, Sunday, August 28.  What a great finish to the season for these players.  They worked hard and they earned it.  GOOD LUCK TOMORROW GUYS

East Gwillimbury Minor Softball 2011 Season Ends

The bleachers were full and the crowds were cheering.  ?Just another sign of our continued growth and success at EG Minor Softball? says Pam Bartlett, Executive Committee Member.  With great appreciation from the association, in attendance during some of the games were Town Councillors Cathy Morton and Marlene Johnston along with the Spitz Fun Crew all showing their community support.

August 13th was the closing day for the East Gwillimbury Minor Softball Association T-Ball, Tyke/Atom and Mitey/Squirt divisions.  The weather was perfect and the kids were all smiles as they showed up for their final games with parents, grandparents and other family members in tow.  The day started with our T-Ball games and it was so much fun to watch their faces light up when they hit or catch a ball.

Next up was our Tyke/Atom divisions; and with families cheering them on, the progress these kids have made throughout the season clearly shined in their skill development and excitement displayed during their games.

The afternoon brought us to the Mitey/Squirt divisions and they were ready to play.  The first game was the (Maroon) Fuzian team vs the (Black) Perfect Moves team vying for position to progress to the next game.  It was an exciting and well played game, and in the end Perfect Moves was victorious moving them on to play the (Navy) Lakeview Vegetable Team.  This game proved to be another close and exciting game and Perfect Moves was again victorious providing them the opportunity to play in the Championship Game after finishing the season in last place.  Our next game saw (Gold) Sharon Lions play against (Grey) Vince?s Markets and Vince?s emerged with the victory, pushing them to the Championship Game against Perfect Moves.  On the edge of their seats and with packed bleachers, the 2011 Championship game began.  The innings were close with each team taking the lead back and forth from inning to inning.  In the end it came down to the fifth open inning with Vince?s player Cameron Ferguson crossing home plate with the winning run and a smile that couldn?t get any bigger.  It was a fantastic day with everyone enjoying themselves and a great way to end the season.

Our Pee Wee division plays in the Bradford loop and are currently finishing up their season games heading into their play offs and closing weekend, August 27th in Bradford.

2011 saw an increase in registrations for all divisions, in fact we filled and had to turn away players for both our T-Ball and Pee Wee divisions.  In 2012 EGMSA is expecting further growth and has already started to put together a Bantam/Midget team to play in the Bradford loop.  Our goal is to provide every player with a rewarding and positive experience playing softball.  Check our website for further registration information www.freewebs.com/egmsa or find us on facebook, EG Minor Softball to see all of our season pictures and information.

We are proud to have received a large number of positive comments back from parents; here are just a couple.

?Thanks to everyone for a wonderful season and a great program.  This was Andy?s first softball season and he had a wonderful time.  As a new member to the community I was amazed at first how parents cheered even for children on the other teams simply because they played with them last year or knew them personally.  It truly was all about having fun and for that I am truly grateful.  The softball parents and friends was much more relaxed than other sports, and Andy learned a lot from Kevin and Alex (coaches for the Sharon Lions Mitey/Squirts).?  Cheryl

"Thank you EG, Perfect Moves Coaches especially Zanis and Michelle... Matthew had a lot of fun and after years of trying other sports he now has a favorite and wants to play again next year."  Carlo

Thanks EG parents and coaches for another wonderful season and we will see you all in 2012.

PLEASE VISIT OUR FACEBOOK PAGE TO FIND ALL OF THE PICTURES FROM THIS SEASON.

Wednesday, May 11, 2011

General meeting with all of the TBall kids and their parents.  Handed out the uniforms to all of the teams, binders to the coaches, recruited a couple of additional coaches for the teams that still required and then the little ones had a bit of a practice to get ready for Saturday.  They were all so cute in their uniforms.

2nd night of pitching clinic and the kids are all in fine form, working hard, preparing for their upcoming season.  Handed out the Mitey/Squirt uniforms to all of the coaches tonight and they all picked up their equipment bags, team lists, schedules, etc.

Monday, May 9, 2011

Picked up the uniforms and they all look fantastic.  Tonight will be spent preparing the uniforms, binders, etc. to hand out this week to the coaches.

Thursday, May 5, 2011

Pitching clinic has started with an overwhelming number of participants.  The clinic is being run by Andrew K. out of the Bradford loop and the kids were all working hard.

Friday, April 29, 2011

A large number of phone calls from Mitey/Squirt aged participant families has prompted us to add another team in that division at this late date.  It would appear that the Newmarket Minor Softball Association did not have enough players to field a Mitey/Squirts division and these players were going to be missing out on a season of ball.  We quickly pulled the team lists, schedules to rework everything, ordered an additional set of uniforms for the new team, found a sponsor and a coach and we are not remaking the teams in that division and the schedule to include the additional team.  Welcome to all our new players.

August 25, 2010

PEE WEES are still playing and last night (Wednesday, August 24th) our EG Pee Wee teams played against each other at the Sharon South diamond.  It was an exciting game and both teams played really well with Z2 Photography holding Lakeview down with three up, three down in the 4th inning and Lakeview returning in that inning with Z2 only scoring 1 run before Lakeview shut them down.  The final score of the game was 16 - 14 for Z2 Photography but the kids all had a great time.  Both teams also utilized call ups from the Mitey/Squirts who all played well and made noticeable contributions to both teams.  Great work guys and good luck to both teams on Saturday as they play their fiinals in Innisfil against the Bradford and Innisfil loop teams.  Both teams have had a fantastic year and did so well our first year in that division in a long time.

CLOSING DAY

Another successful and fun season came to an end today, Saturday, August 14th at the Mount Albert Diamond.

The day started out at 9:00 a.m. with the T-Ball kids and what an absolute pleasure it was to see so many of them hitting from the coaches pitching rather than off the Tee.  It just shows the comittment and hard work the coaches put into working with the kids this season to prepare them for the next level.  GREAT JOB KIDS and COACHES!

Tyke/Atom were the next kids up, and again, you could see the work the coaches had put in this season with the kids displaying their batting, catching and throwing skills developed this year along with their understanding about how the game is supposed to be played.  Another great job by kids and coaches.

We ended the day as always with the MITEY/SQUIRTS.  The season ended with the Sharon Lions and Svenly's Auto tied for first place.  In order to determine rank for closing day, after being presented with a couple of different options, both coaches agreed to a coin toss with Svenly's winning the toss.

The first game was Svenly's Auto against Farmer Jacks and while both teams played really well, Svenly's won and progressed to the Championship game.

The second game was between JW Athletics and Sharon Lions and was a close game all the way through with Sharon Lions pulling ahead in the end to play the Championship game against Svenly's Auto.

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
All season long the Mitey/Squirts have played 6:30 games with a 1-1/2 hour curfew.  The majority of the games can usually just finish four innings, some only made it to three.  The Championship game saw the completion of 5 full innings in 1 hour and 20 minutes.   The game was close and exciting all of the way through, keeping the parents on the edge of their seats and the coaches on their toes but in the fifth inning, Sharon Lions were able to get in 5 runs and hold Svenly's down with no runs.  IT WAS A FANTASTIC GAME and again, the dedication of the players and the coaches showed in the skills and abilities.

The most noticeable improvement was the pitching thanks to the pitching clinic held by EG for the Mitey/Squirts and Pee Wee divisions this year.

GREAT SEASON EVERYONE - SEE YOU ALL NEXT YEAR

Registrations start in March (but can be accepted any time by contacting [email protected])

OPENING DAY was a big success with the T-Ball teams out in full force first thing in the morning, Tyke / Atom then Mitey/Squirts and we finished our day with our newest division, Pee Wees.  Everyone seemed to have a lot of fun and while the morning was a little on the cool side, there was no rain and the sun eventually showed up in the late afternoon.

Watch for the pictures to go up on the website over the next week.

We are now in our regular season and look forward to a great year with everyone.

Thanks to all of our sponsors and all of our volunteers for making Opening Day and the upcoming 2010 Season a fun and successful one.

April 20, 2010

Uniforms are being ordered, teams are being put together and our opening day is just around the corner.  2010 looks to be an exciting season again.

We have had a larger demand for Pee Wee aged kids and are currently attempting to put together a second team and are almost there.  We have to have our team finalized and registered for the loop before Monday, April 26th so registrations are currently being accepted.

The Bradford Loop consists of teams from Bradford, Innisfil, Newmarket and our own East Gwillimbury.  They will play between those four towns and game nights will vary from Monday to Thursday nights depending on which team is hosting the home games.

March, 2010

We've had successful registration days and glad to see alot of the kids returning from last year.  We are building our Pee Wee Team from E.G. kids, coached by Jim Chapman of Lakeview Vegetable.  Registration will be limited so don't wait, guarantee your place on the team.

January 29, 2010

It's that time again, seems like we just finished the Season and here we are planning for the 2010 Season.  We have posted the registration dates on the Registration Page but here is a quick overview, we will be holding registrations three (3) Sundays, March 7th, 14th and 21st at the Sharon Arena from 11am - 3pm and our last registration will take place at the Mt. Albert Public Library and Holland Landing Centre on Tuesday, March 23rd from 7pm - 8:30 pm.

SEE YOU ALL THERE.

August 15, 2009

Well another season comes to an end.  We started the day out at 9am with the T-Ball division.   Such enthusiasm and bright smiles makes it so much fun. Our Tyke/Atom division followed starting at 11am with the kids showing off the skills they learned this season.

As always, our older kids were the last to play.  The Mitey Squirts division started with their first game at 1pm between Holland Landing Firefighters vs ES Automotive.  Everyone put on a great show and the players were all ready but in the end it was the ES Auto Team taking the victory and moving on to the Championship Game.

Sharon Lions and Lakeview Vegetable played the 2:30 game and while both teams played hard, Sharon Lions emerged with the victory, moving on to meet ES Auto in the Championship game.

4:00 p.m. started the Championship game between Sharon Lions and ES Auto and sadly, would be the very last teams to play the very last game of the season.  Both teams started strong with low scoring and tight innings.  ES Auto pulled ahead and in the end, were the 2009 E.G.M.S.A. Mitey/Squirts Champions.

EVERYONE PLAYED HARD ON ALL LEVELS AND WE HOPE TO SEE EVERYONE AGAIN NEXT YEAR.

Thanks to the coaches for their time and dedication throughout the season, thanks to the parents for their ongoing support and thanks to the players for their participation.

SEE YOU IN 2010

August 11, 2009

Closing day is quickly approaching and we are preparing for all of the E.G.M.S.A. kids, getting pictures ready to hand out and trophies and of course, ready to watch all final games.

DON'T FORGET, THE SNACK BAR WILL BE OPEN and you can save $10 off the 2010 registration fees by registering on Saturday.  We will be taking registrations all day at the Snack Bar.

July 21, 2009

We are pleased to announce, we are putting together a PeeWee Team for the 2010 Season.  Any kids that will be between 13  and 16 years of age in the 2010 Season are eligible to register for the team(s).  Jim Chapman (currently Lakeview Vegetable Mitey/Squirts) coach has offered to coach the team.  This team will play in the Bradford loop and more details will follow once we get an idea of how many of our players are interested.

If you are going to be of the right age and would be interested in representing East Gwillimbury in the Bradford Loop next year, please contact Pam Bartlett.

To: EGMSA Parents and Guests

No Smoking Policy

EGMSA has for a long time had a policy that no smoking is allowed on the field or on/near the teams? respective benches.

It has come to our attention that we may need to extend our No Smoking policy due to the evidence of 2nd hand smoke; to not only our kids but to others observing the game.

As an Executive, I am aware that the number one ?Medical Problems? listed on the Registration Form is related to Asthma.  As a Coach, I am aware that as the summer ?heats-up? so will the occurrence of kids having to miss games due to their asthma.

We would then like to ask that Parent and Guests who wish to smoke to remove themselves from the Park?s regular viewing area(s).  If additional consideration can be made we?d like to ensure you are not smoking ?up wind? from those still viewing the game.  We feel we are fortunate that our diamonds still allow unique viewing perspectives from other areas not so near the diamond.

We would like to thank you, in advance, for your cooperation regarding this topic.

SEEDING FOR END OF SEASON / PLAYOFF TOURNAMENTS

Teams receive points for the following:

Win 2 Points

Tie   1 Points

Loss  0 Points

Teams will be seeded in accordance with their finishing position during the regular season for tournaments unless otherwise noted by the tournament coordinator.  Total number of points are used to determine placement.   These are total points accumulated from games won and ties.

The position of two teams tied after the regular season games will be determined in the following manner:

1.     Head to head games between the teams that are tied.  The team with the most wins in the head to head games will take the higher position in the tournament.

 2.   If two teams are still tied after the head to head games, runs for will be used with the highest runs for to be used.

 3.   If two teams are still tied after the runs for are used, the run differential will be used to determine ranking.

Closing Day ... ended with mixed emotions from most of the Players and Coaches.  In the Mitey-Squirts division, everyone was excited to see who was moving on the Championship Game and at the same time, sad to see the Season End.

The T-Ball / Tyke / Atom kids started out the day with a 10:00 a.m. game and an 11:30 a.m. game.  Their biggest smiles though .... when they got their trophies.  Check out the pictures of all of the players and their coaches 2008 Photos & 2008-Photos.

The first game for Mitey-Squirts was between the first place team - Team 3 SHARON LIONS vs Team 1 PFAFF MOTORS.  At the end of the first inning, Team 3 & Team 1 were tied 1 - 1.  The 2nd inning brought 5 runs in for each team, tie 6 - 6.  In the third inning, Sharon Lions took the lead over Pfaff Motors ... 11-7.  In the fourth inning, Sharon Lions were able to hold Pfaff Motors at 7, ending the inning with no additional runs.  Final score of the game was 16 - 7 for the Sharon Lions.

The second game for the Mitey-Squirts was between the second place team - Team 4 HOLLAND LANDING FIRE FIGHTERS vs Team 2 LAKEVIEW VEGETABLE PROCESSING.  Lakeview pulled ahead early in the first inning, completing the inning with a score of 4-2 for Lakeview.  Both teams scored 1 run each for an exciting second inning bringing the score to 5-3 for Lakeview.  The third inning saw a change up in the leader with the Holland Landing Fire Fighters pulling ahead 8-7.  Both teams scored 5 runs in the fourth inning resulting in the win for Holland Landing Fire Fighters.  Again, this was an exciting game but in the end, Team 4 was victorious and would move on to the Championship Game.

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

The frst inning saw Holland Landing Fire Fighters with a slight lead over Sharon Lions 5 - 4.  In the 2nd inning, Sharon Lions were able to pull ahead slightly with the inning ending 9 - 8.  The third inning, Holland Landing Fire Fighters and Sharon Lions both score 5 runs with the score now, 14 - 11 for Sharon Lions.  The fourth inning was the turn for Holland Landing, scoring 5 runs and keeping Sharon Lions to only 1 run ... Holland Landing 16 / Sharon Lions 15.  The fifth inning, an opening inning with no 5 run mercy rule saw Holland Landing bring in a whopping 9 runs and holding Sharon Lions down with only 1 run in.  FINAL SCORE HOLLAND LANDING FIRE FIGHTERS 25 - SHARON LIONS 17.  Great game and a great time had by all.  Visit our photos page to see all of the pictures 2008 Photos.

THANK YOU TO ALL OF THE FANS THAT CAME OUT AND SUPPORTED THE SNACK BAR.  ALL PROCEEDS FROM THE SNACK BAR IS USED FOR NEW EQUIPMENT.

August 13, 2008

"BRING A FRIEND TO BASEBALL" Night was a great success.  With approximately 24 kids joining 3 of our Mitey Squirts Teams, they all had a great time and we discovered hidden talent in the kids that came out to have fun with us.  Check out the 2008 Photos to see the pictures of the kids having a great time.  We also had a visit from one of the Shriners Clowns, Mr. Haystack.  With his foam glove and bat in hand, he came out with his permission slip to join Team 3 for the night.  Mr. Haystack also made an appearance on the Sharon Diamond with Team 4 and the French Park Diamond with Team 2.

A BIG THANKS TO MR. HAYSTACK, the kids enjoyed the visit!
